NYBL - U11s, U13s, U15s

Another fantastic trip to the NYBL for our Hoopstars teams - some wins, some losses but lots of progress, development and fun!

We are always so proud of the behaviour, teamwork and sportsmanship of our members on these days and get a lot of comments about that from others.

A special shout out to Isaac Mayega who recieved one of the 4 overall MVPs from the NBBA in the U11s competition.

U12s NBL - Away vs Brentwood Leopards White 84:38 WIN!

A great performance from our 8 person squad this week with excellent passing and teamwork. After the fixture on the Saturday was postponed it was a fantastic way to finish the weekend.

HBL - U13s, U15s & U18s

An amazing day to finish off the inaugral season of the Hoopstars Basketball League. So many competitive games and the progression made by our players this season has been outstanding.

Our fantastic womens team continued their unbeaten streak with a convincing win which gave us an opportunity to work on our set plays ahead of a tough match next week.

This is going to be a tough match for us and we would love all the support we can get so please do come and cheer us all on.

We have absolutely LOVED our first ever season of the Hoopstars Basketball League and have received such lovely feedback from you all. It was quite an emotional feeling for us on Sunday as we drew a close to the season - seeing our members loving to play competitive basketball and giving players the opportunity to play is exactly why we set this up.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part in this season… players, families, supporters, anyone who has helped out on the table doing the clock / scorekeeping, tuck shop helpers and lastly our wonderful coaches.

And on that note… we have decided that we don’t quite want it to stop here… so watch this space as we are going to work hard to put more HBL tournaments on over the next few months and we will announce dates ASAP.

We have had a lot of questions about whether hub sessions will be continuing after the Easter break and the answer is ABSOLUTELY. Whilst the performance teams basketball season is drawing to a close we will never stop! At Hoopstars we will be a year-round club with hub sessions following the school term timetable and camps and tournaments continuing as well.

The dates and fees for HT5 (April to May) will be sent out in the next week so please keep your eye out on your emails.

As you are aware we have had a great first season for our U12 and U14 National Basketball League (NBL) as well as our U12 Norfolk League team, and as such we are looking to build on this next season.

For the next season (Sept 2023 to April 2024) we will be entering performance teams in the following leagues:

U12 Norfolk League Mixed (School years 5 - 7)

U12 NBL Mixed (School years 6 - 7)

U14s NBL Boys (School years 8 - 9)

U16s NBL Men (School years 10 - 11)

U18s Norfolk League Mixed (School years 12 - 13)

We will be hosting trials for these teams on Saturday 21st May @ City Academy Norwich, at the times below:

10am - 11.30am - U12s

11.30am - 1pm - U14s

1pm - 2.30pm - U16s

2.30pm - 4pm - U18s

If you would like to sign your child up to trial for one of the performance teams please complete the form linked here by Monday 15th May. The fee for trials is £7 per player and will be due on Monday 15th May.

N.B. If you would like your child to trial but they are unable to attend this date please complete the form and the reason why in the notes section and we will make contact with you directly to discuss this.

We will be hosting a webinar to give more information on what being part of one of our performance teams will mean; what the expectations are for players and parents / guardians; and to answer any questions you may have (N.B. these should be general questions about the performance programme rather than specific to your child - these can be directed to us on email if you want guidance on anything). This will be on Sunday 16th April @ 11am and can be accessed via the link here.

N.B. We will continue to have opportunities for competitive matches for members outside of our performance teams such as HBL and NYBL.

We have some extra tickets available for the BBL playoff finals at the O2 on Sunday 14th May 2023.

This will be such a fun day with 2 matches - the womens final followed by the mens final. It is also a great showcase of the best of basketball in Britain and will provide a lot of inspiration to our members. We have been a couple of times and have always loved it.

Prices for the trip will be as below and will include the coach trip and entrance ticket:

Adults - £62.50

Children (up to 18) - £52.50

We have been able to extend the tickets for our awards evening.

This event is open for anyone who is part of Hoopstars as well as their families and is an event for all ages. There will be a sit down buffet, games, a DJ. All members will receive a certificate .

We will be giving out some awards to members who attend our community hubs, Hoopz SEND session, Home Education sessionand our Performance teams (NBL, U12 Norfolk League & Womens team).
