This weekend was a tough one for our youth programme but all of our players and coaches have come away having learnt something. We love this quote from Giannis Antetokounmpo: “There’s no failure in sports. There’s good days, bad days, some days you are able to be successful — some days you’re not. Some days it’s your turn, some days it’s not your turn. That’s what sports is about. You don’t always win — so other people are going to win, simple as that.” U12 NBL vs MK Breakers - 26:97 - LOSS An opportunity to face the well drilled and disciplined MK team and despite our best efforts we couldn’t make an impact. Our team fought until the end and took the opportunity to play against some fantastic players. U12 Black vs Norwich Eagles - 37:54 - LOSS Our U12 Black team started off strong keeping the tough opposition to a 2 point lead at the end of the first quarter. They didn’t stop trying and put up a good fight but in the end the opposition kept them at bay. U14 NBL vs Chelmsford Charge - 55:58 - LOSS A very tough loss for our U14 squad who were leading right up until the last few minutes. We were unable to hold on to the lead and despite our best efforts the determination of the opposition pushed them into the lead. U18 Norfolk League vs Gt Yarmouth - 66:68 - LOSS Another tough loss for us as our strong lead was taken from us in the last minute by the opposition. An example that results are not determined until that final buzzer. UEA Men vs Bedford Thunder - 65:56 - WIN The UEA men took a very convincing win in an exciting match supported by many of our Hoopstars community. HBL U9 / U11 / U13 Another lovely showcase of our youngest players in the club in our U9s / U11s tournamments followed by our U13s matches in the 3rd round of the HBL Term 1. MVPS: U9s - Rowan C, Lucca G, Thomas R U11s - Ciaran C, PJ B, Will S U13s - Olly T, Lewis D, Nic DF, U16 NBL vs Derby Trailblazers - 34:114 - LOSS An experience to remember for our U16s who lost in the 2nd round of the National Cup to the well establish Derby Trailblazers. Our players enjoyed the opportunity to play against some of the top players in the country and did themselves proud. UEA Women vs Ipswich - 51:108 - LOSS The UEA lost in the 1st round of the National Cup to the strong women’s team from the division above. A tough game for a few members as they returned to their old club but a fantastic game really kept Ipswich on their toes. Hoopstars Mixed Adults 1 vs Silverbacks - 69:50 - WIN We finished off the weekend with a convincing win. Our 1st team in the mixed adult league show some promising teamwork and skill, and have plenty to work on ahead of their next fixture.
